Negotiation with the franchisor
Settle the dispute without going to court.
Most franchise disputes end in an agreement, not a court judgment. We act for you in direct talks with your franchisor, calmly and on the facts, to reach a settlement you can accept.
How we negotiate for you
- Agree with you what a good outcome looks like, and your bottom line
- Set out your position to the franchisor in writing, based on the agreement and the evidence
- Lead or support meetings and calls with the franchisor
- Keep a written record of every offer and response
- Help you weigh any offer against the cost and risk of going further
Outcomes negotiation can reach
We cannot promise any particular outcome or figure. What we can do is make sure your case is put clearly and firmly.
- Agreed support, training or corrective action from the franchisor
- Revised fees, payment plans or a resolved fee dispute
- Territory clarified or restored
- An agreed exit, sale or transfer of the franchise
- Release from, or narrowing of, restrictions after you leave
Why franchisors often settle
A drawn-out dispute costs a franchisor legal fees and management time, and it unsettles the rest of its network. That gives both sides a reason to talk. A settlement reached early usually costs both sides less than one reached at the door of the court.
Questions and answers
Will you contact my franchisor without asking me?
No. Nothing is sent to your franchisor or anyone else until you have agreed it.
What if the franchisor refuses to negotiate?
We will discuss the next options with you, such as mediation or, where needed, instructing a franchise specialist solicitor with your case file ready.
