Representation where permitted

Someone to speak for you, where the rules allow it.

In many parts of a franchise dispute you can choose who represents you. Where the rules permit a representative who is not a solicitor, we can act for you. Where they do not, we tell you, and help you find a solicitor.

Where we can represent you

  • Negotiations and meetings with your franchisor
  • Mediation
  • Arbitration, where the parties can usually choose their representative
  • Some other hearings where the rules allow a non-lawyer to speak for you. We check the rules for your hearing before agreeing to act.

Where you need a solicitor

Under the Legal Services Act 2007, some work is reserved to authorised lawyers. This includes issuing and conducting court claims and, in general, speaking for you in court. We do not do this work.

If your dispute is heading to court, or you have been served with a claim, we will help you find a franchise specialist solicitor and hand over your case file so they can start quickly.

Questions and answers

Will you represent me in court?

No. We do not issue claims or conduct court proceedings. Where your matter needs a solicitor, we will help you find one.
